Mangaluru: The police arrested a 32-year-old man from Bengaluru on Thursday following an accusation from a Mysuru woman that she had sexually harassment and borrowed Rs 35 lakh as seed money for the food business that was never returned.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said Mohammed Azwan was detained from Choodasandra, near Parappana Agrahara, around 13:00 and was taken to his home city Mangaluru.
The source said the woman, 21, was reported to meet Azwan, who introduced himself as Sharath, at a cellphone shop in Mysuru two years ago and they were reported in a relationship.
Trust him, he borrowed money from family and friends, and promised family jewelry to hand him to Rs 35 Lakh so he could start a cafe in Mysore and Hunsur.
Shashi Kumar said the woman came to Mangaloru on Tuesday to meet with the defendant at her house in Mudipu, outside Konaje, in the city, looking for a refund that was moved to him.
When he was at his home, he claimed he was allegedly attacked by one of his family members.
Then, he was found crying on the bus holder.
After the call received on their emergency response system, the police went to the bus stand and took him to the Konaje Police Station.
They gave the food and asked for details.

Initially, he wanted to submit a case against the defendant in Mysuru, but changed his mind after receiving a call from his advocate.
Then he filed a complaint in Mangaluru and he experienced a medical examination.
The police have ordered cases under the IPC section that deals with rape, extortion, criminal intimidation and cheating.
Legislator Tejashwini Gowda raised the case on the board.
