Bengaluru: Lack of coal, the projects of Bengaluru’s electricity supply company (Bescom) to replace the overhead cable with an 11 KV underground line has created a serious power outage problem.
It is hoped that the power outage tends to continue in several parts of the city until August 202 because of the ongoing work.
Data shared by Beccom suggested that on September 30, only 60 percent of underground work had been completed in the city.
Areas that tend to see further power cuts over the next six months up to one year are mostly the IT corridor area, such as Whitefield, Bommanahalli, Mahadevpura, Jalahalli, Koramangala, Madiwala, Bellandur and Kr Puram.
The progress of the project in these fields is between 5 to 47 percent.
Maximum progress has been seen in the Malleswaram and Jayanagar sub-divisions with only 15 to 20 percent of the delayed work.
While the lack of serious availability of coal in this country has created panic, a power outage that is often said to be doubled in Bengaluru because these projects on the streets of the city.
Some East Energy Department officials spoke to suggest that the government had stopped all underground projects that were ongoing because it created a serious panic between Bengalureans and the industry regarding the business restart on a full-scale after the Covid-19 pandemic.
It’s separate, further heavy rain also hinders progress.
It is estimated that it will be further delay in the completion of projects with Bescom which can cause “scarcity of artificial” power in the city.
Of the main underground cable projects, 13 are scheduled to be completed in August 2022 and 39 on October 29, 2021.
“Most projects have flooded the time schedule due to the second Covid-19 wave and delay in the contractor.
It takes time to compensate for the loss of time and complete work, “said an energy department official.
However, the executive director Bescom P Rajendra Cholan said the electricity supply company was convinced that the projects would be finished earlier.
“Because of the lack of coal, there is serious confusion that Bescom started a power outage.
However, this has nothing to do with a power outage.
Our main reason for cutting power in a certain area at different times is UG cable.
We hope this is finished in the coming months, “Cholan said.
Overall, cable installation work is spread over 7,085 kilometers of the city, where 2,829 kilometers of work must be completed.
The country faces a serious power outage for three days on trot between October 6 to October 9 at night.
On the three days, because of the lack of coal, the Karnataka government told the center in internal communication that he had to cut 600 to 700 MW every day and shedding loads had occurred.
