Gurgaon: A 21-year-old inmates in prison Bhondsi was ordered to smuggle narcotics to prison.
Inmates were taken to hear the court and returned, he was caught trying to smuggle Sulfa hidden on his shoes.
Brijesh Singh (21), was convicted of murder, robbery and attack and prison in prison Bhondsi was sent to the Jhajjar Court on December 22 for hearings.
Upon returning from the court, prisoners were targeted at the entrance.
During the examination, the prison official found Sulfa’s package hidden on his shoes.
“He had gone with bathroom sandals to hear the court but when he returned, he was wearing a pair of new shoes and clothes.
He also brought a bag of clothes,” said a prison official.
Singh has been put forward in Bhondsi prison since October 2020.
Prison officials said that the prisoners were sent with the police for court listeners and they should not let prisoners meet family and friends without earlier permission from the court or prison department.
The police must ensure that prisoners do not indulge in illegal activities during their court visit and illegal meetings must be limited.
Bhondsi prison supervisor, Harinder Singh, said the prisoners returned from parole, field visits and hospitals often carry drugs, SIM cards, and their cellular calls back.
“We do strict checks and every time they enter the prison priest they have to undergo three layers of inspection to prevent them from carrying goods in prison,” Singh said.
Along with the luggage scanner, prisoners must undergo strict physical resistance.
Previously there were regular complaints of mobile use for extortion calls but now prison officials claim that the situation is controlled because the department watches CCTV recording regularly.
In addition, they also perform regular search operations.
