WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden “Looking forward to” to speak with his partner France Emmanuel Macron by telephone after a broken relationship on the Washington nuclear submarine agreement with Australia, a senior US official said Monday.
Biden wants to talk to Macron “about the road to the next,” the official said, after Paris remembered the US Ambassador for the agreement that killed the sale of the French submarine planned on a large scale to Australia.
“We understand the position of France.
We did not share their views,” said the official, amid accusations by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian that it was “stabbed behind,” in the AS-Australian Agreement.
