Washington: President Joe Biden will meet Pope Francis when he visits the Vatican at the end of this month as part of a five-day swing through Italy and England for economic meeting and global climate change.
Biden plans to discuss the Pandemic Coronavirus, the climate crisis and poverty during his meeting with the Pope, according to the White House.
The meeting will take place on October 29, and Biden will attend the two-day Summit from the G20 leaders in Rome, before heading to Glasgow, Scotland for the UN climate conference known as COP26.
Biden, who is Roman Catholic, often talks about his faith in public and attends Mass every weekend.
But his political view, including his support for gay marriage and abortion rights, sometimes made him dispute with the Catholic doctrine and bring controversy and criticism from several leaders of the Catholic Church.
Earlier this year, a number of Catholic bishops argue by denying the fellowship of Biden for his support for abortion rights, but eventually resigned from establishing any policy for politicians and the Eucharist.
Jill Biden’s first woman will join her husband for his meeting with the Pope.
