Patna: The 150-year-old sunbathing gnomon (metal objects that threw shadows), stolen from Dehra-on-Sone in Rohtas district on Wednesday, found from the house of the scrap dealer on Friday night, said the police on Saturday.
The Scrap Dealer, Manikchand Gupta, a resident of Mohan Bigha under the Dehri City Police Station area, was arrested.
The police have involved a dog squad for the recovery of artificial brass objects from antique sun hours, known as ‘Dhoop Ghadi’.
A special investigation team was formed under SDPO leadership, Dehri immediately after theft of metal objects.
Rohas SP Ashish Bharti said the team sat stormed several places in the last two days and restored objects from the Manikchand house.
“Acting on the tip-off stolen by Gnomon sold to a local scrap dealer, the team sat stormed several used warehouses in Dehri City.
Gnomon finally recovered from the Manikchand house that had bought it from an unknown man for Rs 2,000.
The Memo dealer wants to sell objects with high price, “said Bharti.
Gnomon sunbathed was built on a stone base as 1871 in the famous Dehri mechanical workshop where parts of the ship were previously repaired during the British era.
