Jaipur: A 25-year-old girl from Pune was killed after a young man borne stabbed him with a knife in the Sanganer area on Friday.
The police identified the girl as Zoya Mallik based on the Aadhaar card recovered from it.
An official said the girl arrived here on Thursday to meet her friend who worked at the spa in the city.
“A masked man on the bicycle went near the lane of service with the Sitabari Bus Stand.
The defendant stabbed him several times before rushing in the same direction, he came from,” said an official.
Zoya rushed to the hospital where he gave up on an injury just before Friday midnight.
A senior official tells the Toi that Zoya currently works in New Delhi and comes to Jaipur to meet his friend.
“Zoya and his friend decided to tour the city.
They returned home on Friday night when the defendant on a bicycle hit him with sharp objects, maybe a knife,” said the official, adding that Sanganer police contacted the girl’s relatives based on the aadhaar card details .
The police suspected that someone had followed Zoya all day and chose the bus stand as the last location to kill him.
“The defendant barreled through the service path and took a quick turn after killing Zoya.
He drove through the same lane and escaped,” the official said, adding that CCTV near the bus stand and at the intersection near Jalan Sanganer was being checked with zero .
The police, however, did not disclose if the bicycle registration number was identified or not.
“The problem is being investigated.
We have talked to the victim’s friend about how the entire incident happened.
Prima Facie seems to be the defendant attacking Zoya forcibly and he fell on the road, heavy-blooded,” added the official.
