Kolkata: A 65-year-old morning pedestrian in Salt Lake was robbed of his gold chain on Sunday by two men on a bicycle when he was in the morning walking near his house at Ee Block around 7:30 a.m.
Police said Zakia Rahman had fallen on the road and also hurt himself when criminals pulled the chain and Dupatta wrapped around his neck.
The woman screamed in pain and was afraid and even when fellow morning pedestrians ran towards her after being told, the bikers managed to escape.
No one can also see a bicycle registration number, the source said.
“I was walking along the way when both men on a bicycle suddenly slowed near me and pulled my chain along with Dupatta.
They even tore my mask when they drove towards the canal road,” Rahman said.
Rahman told the police that the two men did not wear a mask or helmet.
Both looked young, thin, and dark, he had told the police, describing criminals.
The woman’s husband, Badi-Ur Rahman, a retired professor with the University of Calcutta said the woman even fell ill after she returned home and was seen shaken by suddenly the incident.
