Chandigarh: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has questioned Congress Member Rahul Gandhi’s Locus Standi to announce the party’s party candidate in Punjab, which states that Rahul has no position in the party now.
Chairman of the Punjab Minister Chararjit Singh Channi was announced as the face of CM Congress on Sunday.
“Rahul Gandhi did not have any position at the party so in what capacity and with what authority he would announce CM candidates today,” asked the Union Minister of Shakti and BJP responsible for the election of Punjab, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Speaking a few hours before Channi’s name was announced, he said chose the face of the main minister was indeed prerogative party, but the Punjab people wanted to know the authorities where Rahul had today, besides being one of the 50 strange parliamentarians belonging to Congress.
He also showed that Rahul had resigned as President of Congress in 2019, after the party’s defeat in the selection of Lok Sabha.
“The only qualification is that it has the name ‘Gandhi’,” Shekhawat added.
He also criticized the party to exclude the former president of the Sunil Jakhar Punjab Congress, who enjoyed the support of the majority of MLAS.
“Congress owes explanations not only to the Punjab people, but the country as a whole, why is he not considered,” he said.
