PSAROPOULI, Greece: Thousands of people have left their homes on Greek Island Evia when the fire burned uncontrollable for the sixth day on Sundays, and the ferry whistled for more evacuation after sailing.
A fire that threatened the northern edge of Athens in the last few days dead.
But the flame in Evia, a large island in the capital, quickly developed into several fields, tearing thousands of hectares (hectares) of pure forests in the north, and imposed the evacuation of dozens of villages.
“I feel angry.
I lost my house …
Nothing was the same next day,” said a resident who gave him Vasilikia after raising the savior ferry in the village of PSaropouli.
“This is a disaster.
Great.
Our villages are destroyed, there is nothing left of our house, our traits, no, no,” he said.
Forest fires have erupted in many parts of the country during the Heatwave Weeklong, the worst Greece in three decades, with burning temperatures and hot winds creating TinderBox conditions.
Throughout the country, the forest land has burned and dozens of houses and businesses have been destroyed.
Greece has mobilized soldiers to help fight fires and several countries including France, Egypt, Switzerland and Spain have also sent help including fire aircraft.
More than 570 firefighters fought against the fire at Evia, said the authorities.
The coast guard has evacuated more than 2,000 people, including many elderly population, from various parts of the island since Tuesday, in the rescue of the dramatic sea because the night sky changed from fire.
The governor for Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, said the situation in the north of the island was “very difficult” for almost a week.
“The front is large, the land area burned large,” he told Skiai TV.
More than 2,500 people have been accommodated in hotels and other shelters, he said.
The fire at the foot of Mountain Parnitha’s northern Athena has been contained but the weather conditions mean there are still high threats that can be taken again.
On Friday night, strong winds pushed fire to the city of Thrakomakedones, where the population was ordered to evacuate.
Blaze left caught fire and blackened the house and the car between pine trees scorched.
