PSAROPOULI, Greece: Thousands of people have left their homes on Greek Island Evia when the fire burned uncontrollable for the sixth day on Sundays, and the ferry whistled for more evacuation after sailing.

More than 570 firefighters fought against the fire at Evia, said the authorities.
The coast guard has evacuated more than 2,000 people, including many elderly population, from various parts of the island since Tuesday, in the rescue of the dramatic sea because the night sky changed from fire.
The governor for Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, said the situation in the north of the island was “very difficult” for almost a week.
“The front is large, the land area burned large,” he told Skiai TV.
More than 2,500 people have been accommodated in hotels and other shelters, he said.
