Bengaluru: The police investigated cases of patients infected with 66-year-old Omicron from South Africa who fled from a hotel in Bengaluru by producing a false negative Covid-19 test report, had arrested four people, including two top executives a pharmaceutical company.
The patient, the head of the pharmaceutical company based in Johannesburg, has been positively tested for Covid-19 when he arrived in the city on November 20.
He was quarantined in a private hotel, and the BBMP health staff had taken genomic samples for genomic sequencing.

However, the man escaped before the sequencing report arrived.
The results showed that he was infected with the omicron variant.
The police claimed two of his two staff had approached the private lab in Electronics City and managed to get a fake Covid-19 negative report.
Patients fly back to South Africa through Dubai on November 27 using this report.
Documents submitted in court by the High Grounds Yurisdiction Station Police identify four that have been arrested as Yogeshwar Mohanprasad Dooki, 54, Vicepressident (Quality Control), Adcock Ingram Ltd and Whitefield residents; M Ravindranath, Manager (Quality Control), Adcock Ingram Ltd from Bommasanandra; Manoj Kumar KC, 24, Junior Executive, Custodian and Finance, Syngene International Ltd and Kolars; And Prashant M, 25, Registration Executive, Syngene International Ltd, from Hosakerehalli in Banashankari.
“We still questioned the hotel staff to find out the role they played in letting patients check out before finishing the quarantine period,” said an officer.
“The hotel staff said they didn’t suspect it was a fake report.
However, they should talk to BBMP officials before leaving the patient away.” A case was submitted based on complaints from Dr.
Naveen Kumar M, Medical Officer, BBMP-Shivajinagar, and the police had ordered the Defendant at under part of the laws of the Karnataka epidemic.
Dooki and Ravindranath have been sent to durable, while the other two are in police custody.
