Mumbai: BMC is likely to conduct another post-Diwali survey survey to ensure the explanation rate among citizens to the SARS-COV-2 virus which causes Covid-19.
This will be the sixth sero survey since July 2020.
The latest conducted in August showed that 86% of those surveyed had antibodies to Coronavirus.
“We plan to do more surveys and believe it will be good to do the right after the Diwali Festival,” said the additional Commissioner BMC Suresh Kakani.
However, he added that the final decision about the date had not been taken.
BMC has set October 31 as a deadline to vaccinate the adult population – 92.3 lakh – with at least one Covid vaccine shot.
“The next sero survey will help us assess the effect of vaccination in creating antibodies,” Kakani said.
Sero survey will also help health officials assess the decrease in the level of antibodies between the population.
The first Sero survey conducted in July 2020, showed that Seroprevalence was 57% in slums and 16% in non-slum, but the second survey was conducted a month after showing seroprevalence dropped to 45% to slum and increased slightly to 18%.
In non-slum areas.
