Mumbai: The State Council School in the city is ready to reopen for elementary and secondary school students (Class I to VII) on Wednesday after a gap for more than 20 months.
The principal expects around 20-25% of students to appear for direct learning this week.
No more than five new Covid variants cases, Omicron has been reported in the city, but many parents are still worried about sending students, especially younger, back to school.
For now, most institutions tend to survive with a hybrid model, but without combining online and offline tutoring classes in the same session.
Teachers can pay attention to their online and offline students on alternative days or shifts.

The decision to reopen the main part of the Mumbai State Council School for deep learning can vary depending on the strength and comfort of the class.
The non-country council school plans to be fully open to the primary class in January 2022, after a winter holiday.
Father Jude Fernandes, St Mary’s Middle School, byculla, said the school had received approval from parents of nearly 20-25% of students.
“We will start the class according to the BMC direction and review the situation.
There will be a problem in running a hybrid class.
We can call students in a batch twice a week at the beginning,” he added.
Don Bosco High School in Borivli also plans to start the class on Wednesday but get a bad response from parents of students in the lower class.
There are practical difficulties in the early class with a limited presence, said the Rohan Bhat Principal of the Child Academy, an ICSE school.
“Because the hybrid class will continue, most parents want to remain with online options.
And we cannot run a bus service for fewer students.
Even if there are 10 students on the bus, the running fee will remain the same,” Bhat said, added That parents have become reluctant after the Omicron case report in the city.
The school will open again for class I-VII after the online exam in January.
School Anjuman-i-Islam in Bandra has received approval from more than 50% of class I-VII students.
“We have a good response even in a higher class.
While students from SSC and HSC are being called every day, we call other people on alternative days,” said the principal, Saba Patel.
The school paired class V and VIII and class VII and intends to call them on alternative days.
BMC Education Officer Raju Tadvi said the parents of 40% of students from the BMC school had given approval.
“We have directed all schools to reopen on Wednesday after the Covid protocol.
So far, there are no changes in direction,” he added.
