Nagpur: Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who is a university chancellor in the state, has appointed Bokare Prashant Shridhar as Deputy Chancellor of New University of Gondwana, Gadchiroli.
Bokare has served as a professor and dean of the engineering school at the University of OP Jindal, Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, for the past 3 years.
He has been appointed as Chancellor for 5 years.
The post lay empty after retirement representative of Chancellor Namdev Kalyankar on September 7 last year.
Deputy Chancellor Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Shrinivasa Varnahedi led as representatives of Chancellor.
Bokare has obtained a degree in civil engineering from Sangli.
He then finished me from Vrce, Nagpur, and PhD from IIT Guwahati.
Bokare also serves as Professor and Dean at BD Engineering College, Sewagram in Wardha and also as a professor and principal at RSR Ringa College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
The governor has formed a search committee under the leadership of Chairman of the Pension Chair of Allahabad, the High Court of the Dilip Bhosle, for the election of the Chancellor of Chancellor.
Professor of Director of Iim Himanshu Rai and the Presidential Secretary of the Maharashtra government, OP Gupta is a member of the Committee.
