Photos and other details of Muslim women uploaded through the application for their auctions.
A FIR filed based on complaints and information on female journalists was also searched by police from Twitter about the account that first tweeted about the application.
Twitter was asked to remove offensive content related to controversy.
Information is searched from GitHub about application developers.
Track the culprit, said the source, it might be complicated because the initial probe suggested that the user cover his footsteps well and the platform might reject the details as they did before.
The source said Delhi police have written twice to GitHub who are looking for details in a similar case reported last year where the details of many women uploaded on the application named Sulli.
However, the platform refused to share details and asked the police to come through the legal route.
A fir put forward in the issue of Sulli’s deal on July 7, 2021 and requests sent for user details on the same day.
Second request, as a reminder, sent next week.
Then, Delhi’s police started the procedure and the file was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Department of Delhi’s Government House around mid-December, an official said.
The source said MHA gave her approval after where the request was sent to GitHub next week.
A similar process will also be followed because BH BII and police cases can also follow up with GitHub then through the External Ministry Union, the source said.
FIR was submitted at the Cyber Police Station in the Southeast District under the IPC 509 section (Word, movement or law intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 354A (abuse and sexual punishment for harassment).
Special cells are conducting a technical investigation to be accused.
On Sunday, Minister of Ashwini Vaishnaw Tweeted to tell GitHub has blocked users behind the application.
He further tweeted that Github has confirmed blocking users in the morning.
Authorities and police coordinate for further action.
