Silchar: Dacoit suspected of being injured in the police opened fire on Salchapra in Cachar District on Thursday morning after he was suspected of trying to escape from detention.
Dacoit has been identified as Taj Uddin Choudhury, a resident of Sonai in the Cachar district.
According to a report, Taj was arrested in Dhanehari in Sonai on Wednesday night.
During interrogation, he leaked the location where the weapon was stored.
A police team took him to the place in Salchapra on Thursday morning.
After reaching there, Taj tried to attack the police to escape.
The police opened fire on his legs in retaliation.
