New Delhi: A total of 76 Supreme Court lawyers have written to the Chairman of the NV Ramana judge and urged him to take Suo Moto’s awareness about recent hatred speeches in Haridwar and Delhi who targeted the minority community and called for “ethnic cleaning”.
In the letter, the lawyer said the statement was not only the same as mere hatred speech but the number of calls open for “murder of the entire community”.
“The speech thus, pose a big threat not only to the unity and integrity of our country but also endangers the lives of millions of Muslims,” the letter said.
The lawyers urged CJI to take Suo Moto’s awareness considering seriousness and gravity of events.
The advocates say that the letter has been aimed at the hope that CJI will take rapid action in his capacity as the Head of the State Justice wing.
The lawyers referred to ‘Dharma Sansad’ held at Ved Niketan Dham in Haridwar from December 17-20 where speech hatred was allegedly made against a community.
