Patna: The State Police Special Task Force (STF) team captured the smugglers of three weapons and won 1,000 large live cartridges from their ownership in Rajgir, Nalanda on Thursday which they smuggled from Jharkhand to supply criminals at Bihar.
The source said that cartridge demand was very high because the election of Panchayat was ongoing in the state and confiscating goods can be used by criminal elements for violence during voting.
The settlement of the arrested ammunition has been identified as Anil Singh from Khaira Musepur under the Daudnagar Police Station in Aurangabad, Prabhat Kumar from Nardiganj in Nawada and Pawan Singh aka Vijay Singh from Baksu in Nalanda.
The arrest occurs when annealed and prabhat will provide a consignment of smelting cartridges to Pawan in the Baksu, which they smuggled from Jharkhand on a bicycle.
STF also seized two countries to make a semi-automatic gun, four cellphones, two bicycles, driving licenses, PAN cards, debit cards and RS 370 from their ownership.
“Cartridges must be supplied to criminals in Nalanda, Nawada, Patna and neighboring districts “Said a senior police officer.
The source said Pawan had completed the price of the entire consignment for RS 3.5 Lakh.
“Rs 26,000 from RS 3.5 Lakh is delayed for payment by Pawan to Jharkhand based on the smuggled after shipping cartridges,” said a senior officer.
He said that Pawan would further sell each cartridge for Rs 390-450 to a criminal gang.
Police sources said that they collected details of trio criminal antecedents captured in smuggling.
“Further ragging must be taken at Jharkhand from the cartridge shipping place,” said the police source.
This is one of the rare occasions where 1000 or more cartridges have been confiscated together in circumstances.
On December 26, 2017, STF won 1000 cartridges from various drills and weapons including AK-47 Assault Rifle, a US Springfield rifle from Tikarampur, under the Mufassil police station area, Munger.
On February 10, 2019, the police in Purnia confiscated 1200 Live AK-47 rounds produced in Myanmar, three AK and two UBL from SUVs.
On September 15, 2019, STF won 1600 cartridges directly from various drills from Kurhani, Muzaffarpur.
On February 4, 2020, STF again confiscated 500 different live cartridges from Brahmapur, Muzaffarpur.
On September 14, 2020, STF once again confiscated 1100 7.65mm cartridges from Mufassil, Khagaria.
This year, STF won 200 cartridges from Khagaria on February 2, 100 from Sangrampur, Munger on June 24 and 407 live cartridges from Kinjar, Arwal on July 8.
