Ahmedabad: City police in the new year Eve arrested 116 drivers to drunk driving.
On the way a week since December 25, 548 drunk drivers were caught.
Also 123 people were caught for breaking the night curfew.
Traffic and city police have launched a special drive for the driver of the NAB for drunk driving.
The drive starts from December 25 and seven days see 548 cases, which is a maximum of 116 captured on Friday night.
Officials said that of 548 cases, 145 was submitted by the city traffic police and 93 of these cases came from the western part of the city and the rest from the eastern part of the city.
The police station in the eastern part registered the maximum case.
Isanpur police station, Maninagar, Vatva, Danilimda, Kagdapith and Narol registered 120 cases, followed by 74 cases in the IV zone covering from everypic, Shahibaugh, Airports, Krishnagar, Meghaninagar and Naroda.
Both zones have around 50% of the total cases registered by city police.
In the west, 57 cases are registered in Zone II, which include Chandkheda, Madhavpura, Ranip, Sabarmati, Karanj and Shahpur.
This year, there is no permission for parties sought by hotels or restaurants.
The city police have deployed 13,000 police officers including police and Jawan’s housekeepers throughout the city.
Senior officials said that this year there were fewer cases in the west.
“It seems that people in the western part of the city have gone to farms or closest relatives.
These farm houses are individual nature do not require permission,” said a senior police inspector in the western part of the city.
Refusing to be named, Police Inspector said that farm houses against Kalol and Nalsarovar were packed with cesus.
“I have two farm houses near Kalol and we have rented a cook in advance who have made a complicated arrangement for the party.
I have invited almost 40 guests and we enjoy all night.
We stayed all day just to return on Friday night .
Usually we all melt after the celebration, but this year because our fungus remains back and extends staying a day, “said a businessman who lives in Sindhu Bhavan Road.
