Chandigarh: After the Congress pointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as chairman of the Committee for the election in the Punjab Assembly Polls 2022, former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday said he felt sad and bad about Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi over how it treated by the Congress Party.
“I feel sad for him that although it has tremendous potential, he was made to be subject to the whims PCC president Navjot Sidhu,” Amarinder Singh said when commenting, “will only end up as a night watchman”.
Reacting to the appointment Sidhu as chairman of the Election Committee of Congress for Punjab, Amarinder said, never happened before that a prime minister was made “subject” to the President of the PCC.
“No self-respecting leader who must accept such humiliation,” said the former prime minister, pointing out that Channi had to resign rather than face humiliation and insults like that.
He showed how the Congress claimed that it had appointed a scheduled caste as chief minister but now has made “subject” to the PCC president.
“Is he just an exhibition to get the sound SC?” He asked.
“Just because someone is behaving like a spoiled child and throw tantrums day in and day, you ask for all the extortion and in the process of insulting and humiliating the chief minister for you, who do a good job,” he said, while commenting.
“Congress is down dump”.
Amarinder Singh quit the Congress earlier this year after months of fighting with President of Punjab pot of Punjab today Navjot Singh Sidhu and formed his own party.
Assembly election scheduled to be held in Punjab early next year.
Punjab polls in Punjab in 2017, the Congress won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and overthrow Sad-BJP government after 10 years.
Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the second largest party that won 20 seats in the 117 member of the Legislative Assembly of Punjab.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) can only win 15 seats while BJP secured 3 seats.
