Patna: Commissioner of the Division of Patna Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Monday asked officials concerned to conduct GHATs checks regularly and established barricades remembering the increase in water levels in Ganga.
He said worshipers should not be allowed to cross the barricade to perform the Chhath ritual from a safety perspective.
A team of officials led by Agarwal checked several alley alley between Digha and Collectorate on Patna as part of the preparation for the Chhath Festival.
Agarwal asked Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh to identify malicious Ghats and set up a list.
He instructed officials to install signage on Ghat dangerous and publish the same thing through various mediums to stop worshipers take soak in Ganga and offer ‘Arghya’.
SP traffic was asked to prepare a plan for the smooth operation of the vehicle on the road to Ghats.
“Parking lots must be for people’s convenience,” Agarwal said.
The Division Commissioner asked the relevant officials to make cleaning, electrical, drinking water, urinal, dressing room, watch tower and public address system in Ghats.
“The control room must be arranged at the district level and sub-division to provide all the information needed to people,” he said.
Agarwal said the setting must also be made for facial masks and sanitisers on Ghats.
“All people and others, including officers, must wear a mask in Ghats during the celebration,” he said.
The division Commissioner said detailed guidelines about Covid would be released in the next few days.
He asked officials to remain vigilant because a large number of people from outside Bihar would go home for the celebration.
Commissioner Patna Municipal Corporation Himanshu Sharma, Deputy Construction of Commissioner Richie Pandey, Traffic SP D Amarkesh, Additional Collector (Revenue) of Rajiv Srivastava and Additional Collector (Disaster Management) Santosh Kumar Jha was also present during inspection.
