Ranchi: Ranchi District Administration on Tuesday shifted 19 inmates of children’s shelter houses located in Pandra to the new center in Nivaranjur after an incident of sexual exploitation of a boy by a shelter house security guard for about a month ago.
Children are shifted to the center run by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Adim Janjati Sanshan’s rental.
Transfers are supervised by members of the district child welfare committee and local police.
Speaking of the incident, Sweta Bharti District Welfare Officer said, “Registration of NGOs that run Pandra Center has been canceled after underage physical abuse cases by the Central Security Guard.” The source said the boy experienced sexual harassment for about a month by security guards, identified as Sambhu Prasad Lohra.
He was arrested two weeks ago.
