Children of migrant workers have not returned to campus

Mangaluru: Almost a week has passed since the Dakshina District Administration Kannada allowed school to start classes for students from sixth to 10 classes on their campus, and the presence in most educational institutions floated around 90%.
Among those who have not returned to campus are migrant workers.
Officials at the Department of Public Instruction Dakshina Kannada estimates that around 5% of the children of migrant workers do not attend classes on campus.
Officials said that children migrant workers were around 8% of the strength of cumulative students in all districts.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Dakshina Kannada Malleswamy said, “Some migrant workers have returned to the district, like their children.
Many of them continue to attend online classes.
Are they going to start attending classes on campus depending on their parents.” Meanwhile , Malleswamy said that the deadline for finding entrance tickets to school has been extended until the end of October.
“The exact number of students who have been deprived of education will be known at the end of the month.
We hope that most children will return to campus after a month,” he said.
Other DPI officials show that the construction sector has not fully recovered in the district, because most migrant workers have not returned to Dakshina Kannada.
“Construction has not been fully continued.
Furthermore, many workers might hesitate to return because fear of Covid-19.
We hope more students on campus are so we introduce back midday eating,” he said.
Deputy Director (Education) of the Social Welfare Department, Dakshina Kannada Yogeesh S said that only 15% of students had not returned to their inn at the pre-matriculation hostel.
“However, most senior housing hostels are almost full.
Most of the students living in pre-matriculation hostels come from neighboring Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Raichur and Dakshina Kannada.
