Bathinda: The day before the start of the official procurement of rice for the marketing season of Kharif 2021-22 on Friday, the Government Government asked Punjab and Haryana to postpone 10 days, quoting bad weather, because there was a chance of high moisture content in plants.
Given the interests of farmers and to avoid discomfort for them, it has been decided that the procurement of rice under the MSP will begin on October 11 in Punjab and Haryana because the maturity of the plant has been postponed and the water content in it is beyond permitted limits, the central ministry of consumer affairs, Food and distribution of public writes to food, civilian supplies, and consumer affairs secretaries from both countries on Thursday.
It further wrote that the Government of the State of Punjab and Haryana were asked to advise their institutions to dry rice that had arrived in Mandis and that further results could be carried after drying plants correctly.
“All agencies can prepare their machines and take action needed to procure rice from October 11,” The Ministry ordered America.
Meanwhile, Jagmohan Singh’s farmer leader said the delay in the procurement of 10 days such as other efforts to punish the farmers.
The central government has even provided a sanction of RS 6,300 Crore less than what the Punjab government has requested to procure rice.
