City Waste Factory on Track: Govt Assam to NGT

Guwahati: Assam has completed the technical evaluation of an offer for the installation of a solid waste treatment plant in Guwahati and is checking its feasibility.
This was informed by the state government through a written statement before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently.
Following the NGT’s command authorized in 2019, the Kamrup (Metro) Regency administration shifted the disposal site from the West Boragaon area to Chandrapur last year.
Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) began to dispose of waste in the 40 hectare of the thermal power complex in Chandrapur in June last year.
However, the Civic body and the district administration faced a strong public resistance there and bowed to him, GMC stopped throwing the waste there.
Since July last year, GMC has disposed of garbage throughout the city at 70 Bighas in Belor Tol in East Boragaon in the city.
The state government was also delivered in a statement that the location of the disposal in West Boragaon was completely closed and the GMC had started the bio-remediation of the legacy waste accumulated in a closed location.

As many as Rs 10 Crore have been approved for BIO-3.61 lakh Mats packaging from the total.
The government said the total 1.71 lakh mts of solid waste had been mined by bio.
