Noida / Ghaziabad: The Uttar Pradesh (UPPCB) pollution control agency has been written to Noida Authority, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and other institutions to prepare a list of sites where city solid waste, construction waste and disassembly (C & D) discarded and Has been cleaned earlier before the emergence of winter.
The letter, sent on Wednesday, said the air quality in Noida remained among ‘poor’ and ‘severe’ during the winter months.
One of the main sources of pollution is smoke from waste burning, which can be controlled if garbage is not disbursed illegally, the official said.
“Tunggul is also another reason for pollution throughout the NCR.
However, most local farmers can reuse their stumps.
But if the waste lying on the road, people burn it so that they keep warm in the cold, adding pollution,” said an uppcb official .
Officials said the site was expected to be cleaned on October 15, the day of the multilevel response plan (GRAP) came into force.
The pollution department will also ask the authorities to complete repair and maintenance work along the road and other sites where dust is collected.
“There are complaints from residents that construction materials lying on the road and some stretches need improvement.
We have written to Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation and Noida authority to complete these newest works at the end of October,” Utsav Sharma said, regional officers for Noida and Ghaziabad .
He added that the deadline for repairs was usually earlier, but the work could take more than this year because the rainy season was extended.
In Ghaziabad, the polluting industry has been sent notifications to improve their systems and filters.
There are around 350 industries like that in the city.
Most of the industries requested to display their names about chimneys have obeyed, according to officials.
Uppcb officials said residents were also asked to submit complaints related to air pollution so that this could be completed in October.
