CM launches a safe migration drive for workers while traveling

Ranchi: Head of the Minister of Hemant Soren on Thursday officially launched a superior campaign entitled safe and responsible for migration initiatives (SRMI) which mainly aims to prepare a holistic road map for a number of migrant workers to ensure overall and their well-being when they moved.

The pilot project will be initially launched in three districts namely Dumka, Gumla and Singbhum Barat, said Secretary of the State Labor Department Prawin Kumar Toppo.
“Under SRMI, we want to initially work with the authorities in Ladakh and Kerala through different interventions,” he said, adding that the three selected districts have more migrants while traveling.

SRMI will be implemented by the State Labor Department and will be supported by the conglomeration of various institutions namely – Policy and Development Advisory Group, Hope Partners to Action Foundation, Migration Center and Inclusive Development and Bharti Institute of Public Policy in Indian Business Schools.
According to the SRMI policy document, it will be an 18-month project.
This will involve working to increase the increase in social security and welfare for migrant workers and their families, allowing registration of migrant workers for a better database, monitoring and analyzing their situation, and creating awareness among migrants in safe and responsible practices.

SRMI is an initiative from the government and partners Consortium to have coordination and management of better migrant workers mobility and welfare.
