Lucknow: He may have an image of a leader of Firebrand, but the Chairman of the Minister of Yogi Adityanath has revealed a softer self with his predecessor in expanding support to the poor and depressed through discretionary funds.
In the past four and a half years, Yogi has distriboken Rs 1,129 Crore through funds to 71,626 people for care.
The numbers more than doubled what SP President Akhilesh Yadav gave up during his five-year term as cm and almost 13 times more than RS 84 Crore released by Mayawati during his tenure (2007-12).
In the last five months (April 1 – August 31), during and after the second wave of Coronavirus Pandemi, around Rs 121 Crore was given as financial assistance to 6,618 beneficiaries.
Officials claim that Uttar Pradesh, with a population of around 24 crores, has had better to handle pandemic compared to any state.
Saving lives and livelihoods is the top priority of the Yogi Aditityath government, they added.
In April, RS 13.26 Crore was provided for around 781 people in May, this rose to almost RS 17.20 Crore which was channeled to more than 943 people.
In June this year, the government provided Rs 24.85 Crore to 1,376 recipients followed by Rs 29.33 Crore to 1,497 people in July 2021.
Similarly, RS 36.44 Crore was given to 2,021 people in August.
According to details released by the CM office regarding the funds, the BJP government has to now extend the help of more than 1,100 crore Rs to poor patients.
The Jamajwadi Party government under Akhilesh Yadav has provided Rs 552 Crore to 42,508 people while the Maywati government only gave RS 84 Crore to around 18,462 people.
Officials at the office of the minister said after the power, CM Yogi Adityanath had issued a direction that helped to be given to people who had given hope for the treatment of money.
The government does not only save the lives of thousands of people but also ensure that they do not have to sell their land and property to meet medical expenses.
Breakup year-wise shows the consistency provided by the government for the people.
CM helped 13,228 people with RS 184.63 Crore in 2017-18 through discretionary funds.
In 2018-19, more than 17,772 people were given more than Rs 256.34 Crore, while in 2019-20, around 18014 people received Rs 280.23 Crore.
Around RS 132.55 Crore was provided for 7,269 people by 2020-21.
Assistance is provided for kidney transplants and patients suffering from cancer, heart disease, and other serious diseases.
Officials say maximum money is given to patients for cancer treatment, kidney disease and heart.
