Coimbatore: The Department of Vascular Surgery from Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) celebrates 200 endovascular operations since the beginning of 2019.
Endovascular surgery is important when patients develop blocks in blood supply to hands, legs and intestines.
“We do diagnostic angiograms to identify this block and delete them.
After an unlimited operation, the patient can continue daily activities within two days,” said Department Head Dr K Rajesh.
“Endovascular procedures are suitable for parents with heart disease for whom are open operations that threaten the lives.
These blocks are removed with angioplasty and permanently stenting procedures to build blood supply to hands and feet throughout life,” said the doctor.
This procedure will cost more than RS 3 Lakh in a private hospital.
“But it’s done free at CMCH under the CM Health insurance scheme,” said CMC Dean a Nirmala.
