JAMSHEDPUR: Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) based in Kolkata – A Birla CK Hospital unit – has proposed to bind with the main hospital (TMH) here for robot knee replacement operations.
CMRI officials said the proposal was wrapped in the intention of facilitating patients with knee complaints from the city in their home city.
“We are open to the idea of entering a kind of understanding of TMH to help patients Jamshedpur and around the surrounding cities utilize good care as far as the robot operation for the replacement of knee joints,” Director of CMRI and head of the orthopedic department, Dr.
Rakesh Rajput, said.
He added that he would visit TMH once every month to offer consultation to patients in the Sai Center in Bhalubasa.
“Because of the pandemic, many patients with knee diseases do not visit doctors for diagnosis and care.
So we think of reaching them,” Rajput said.
“Because of the increase in the use of operations driven by robots in the replacement of knee joints, the longevity of the replaced knee has increased to 30 years,” he added.
