Coimbatore: Coimbatore-based education C R Swaminathan, which also served on many industrial bodies, died of a heart attack in the early hours on Tuesday.
He was 74 years old.
Swaminathan suffered a heart attack on his residence in the residence of G V near UPPilipalayam and died when he was rushed to the hospital.
The youngest of nine siblings, Swaminathan, has served in various capacities in the PSG institution and continued to become the main education officer.
MBA holders, Swaminathan have served in various industrial agencies including in the South Indian Engineering Association – (Siema), Coimbatore Management Association- (CMA), Coimbatore Productivity Council – (CPC), Scientific and Industrial Testing and Research Center (Sitarc)) , Coimbatore Infrastructure Association- (Coindia) and Rotary Club of Coimbatore East.
He also served in various trusteers and educational institutions as a member of the Government Board in addition to being the founding secretary of the Codissia Trade Fair Center in 2000.
CK Ranganathan, Chairperson, CII Southern Region, said Swaminathan was a visionary leader and had contributed to the industrial development from South India.
“He has brought a new dimension to the industrial-institute partnership in the southern region with his rich knowledge and expertise in higher education and industry research,” he added.
