Coimbatore: Rural police on Thursday caught the gang of six members for deceiving two people Rs 25 Lakh with their luring them to invest in fraud ‘attractive rice’.
Arrest was identified as Murugesan SS, from Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore Regency, M Raj alias Bojaraj, 42 from Jalan Ilango in Udumalpet in Tirupur District, D Dineshkumar, 34, Vellore, R Suryakumar, 24, from Aranthangi near Ranipet, B Senthilkumar, 41, From Puram and M Venkatesh Prabhu (26) from Sitra in Coimbatore Regency.
The gang approached the victims, Abdulkalam, 44 and E Mahadeep, 58, from Kozhikode, through other shaji agents from Kerala.
By claiming that the ‘pot’ they have made from iridium and ‘rice towry’ and the value of rupees in the international market, the gang promises Abdulkalam and Mahadeep that they will get crores rupees in return if they buy pots.
Believe their words, Abdulkalam and Mahadeep sell their gold ornaments and borrow loans from several people.
They handed over Rs 25 Lakh to the gang.
“The gang claimed that the number was collected from the duo for the cost of buying a protective coat, oxygen cylinders to handle iridium and several equipment to test the power of iridium.
Gang members also act in different roles to disable the duo,” said Coimbatore Regency Supervisor from Selvanagarathinam.
While Murucesan posed as a tribal man and claimed to have Iridium, Bojaraj acted as an agent, a dineshkumar of an expert to assess the power of iridium with the help of soakumar.
Senthilkumar and Prabhu acted as guards to protect gang members.
“Abdulkalam and Mahadeep were taken to a rented house at KG Garden near Othakkalmandapam on Wednesday, where one of the gang members acted as if testing Iridium by wearing a special setting,” said Selvanagarathinam.
When the duo kissed a mouse, they asked a gang member to produce documents to prove the authenticity of the metal.
However, the gang gave several bundles of currency notes to the duo and asked them to leave the place immediately.
Duo knows that it is a fake currency note.
When asked, gang members tried to attack Abdulkalam and Mahadeep.
Police said the duo managed to escape and notify sp.
A police team specifically looked down the gang.
The police also seized copper pots, two oxygen cylinders, knives, Rs 99.2 lakh fake currencies and two cars from them.
The arrest was returned in judicial detention on Thursday.
