Thane: Central Railway (CR) commuting faces discomfort because suburban services are still closed for almost 18 hours on Sunday in a slow corridor between Thane and Diva to facilitate connecting the train tracks that are newly placed in the sixth corridor of the fifth network between Kalwa and Mumbra is between Kalwa and Mumbra Station.
A team of almost hundreds of workers and many machines were deployed who worked hard until Sunday night.
Following the block, around 20 percent of the work on a 9.4km long stretch is likely to be completed, officials said, adding that the delayed work on the stretch will be completed in the next few months.
“The 18-hour block is important because our team has to connect new lines placed between Kalwa and Mumbra.
We will need a few more blocks including some that stretch more than 36 to 72 hours to make a fully operational stretch,” Shivaji Sutar said, head A spokesman at the train center.
With a pair of new songs between Kalwa and Mumbra will be active on Monday, the train has warned locals not to walk or cross the line especially along the stretch between electric poles 36/21 and 38/7 and tunnels.
Operatively made in both directions as soon as the block ends and there will be moving traffic, said Sutar.
Meanwhile, some commuters face a terrible time traveling on the suburbs on Sundays because no trains are available for Kalwa and Mumbra stations and with limited service available there is a large crowd in several suburban stations in the part.
The train exerted a help table on several stations and the police was issued to manage the crowd.
Thane Municipal transport uses nearly 20 buses on the Thane-Mumbra-Diva route with 210 scheduled trips throughout the day.
Some commuters complained about car drivers and taxis who made murder and charge above the specified tariff.
“We have to travel to Thane and the driver automatically charges additional fees and we have no choice but to succumb when the bus runs packed with capacity,” said a Diva-based commuter.
Train activists are seen interacting with officials to ensure minimal discomfort to passengers at the suburban station.
“Taking work of big developments like that will cause discomfort to be borne by the passengers.
One must understand that the job, after completing faster, it is likely to be very comfortable to do commuter from the far edge in the future,” said the train activist.
