Concerns of street vendors discussed by MCC

Mangaluru: The Vending Town Committee held a meeting at the Corporation Mangaluru Corporation Committee Hall on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar, and discussed the concerns of street vendors.
Street vendors who have approval by the city seller’s committee and hold valid cards and certificates of identification, are permitted to continue to do business under street vendors (protection of livelihoods and regulations Vending Street) ACT, 2021.
For Bifurcate Street vendors based on their trade activities, MCC will be appointed by 10 survey teams.
The new round of the survey will be held throughout the city, based on the guidelines specified in the vendor (livelihood protection and regulation of Vending Street) scheme, 2020.
Based on the results of the survey, the city seller’s committee will issue an identification card.
and trade licenses for decent street vendors.
Street vendors with valid trade and trade licenses will be assigned zones to carry out trade activities.
This trade zone has been recognized, and the proposal for them to be declared as a trade zone is in the final stage, the commissioner said.
Strict actions will be taken against those who violate street seller norms by Mangaluru City Corporation and the police department, he said.
MCC looks for cooperation with the Association of Development of Vendor Street Dakshina Kannada.
Deputy Commissioner MCC Ajit M and members of the city seller’s committee were present at the meeting.
