VADODARA: Ami Ravat Congress Board member on Friday objected to the drive of the Wiswamitri river cleanliness and accused Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) ignoring encroachment on the banks of the river.
Ravat said that Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) damaged the ecology of the river by removing trees and bushes randomly on the banks of the river.
“When I object, civilian officials stopped cleaning work on Friday.
Drives not only damage the river ecology but also disturb the crocodile which is a protected species.
Why is the VMC clean the river in this period this year? That’s all nonsense,” Ravat Opposition leader in the word VMC.
He added that VMC did not eliminate the actual encroachment blocking the river flow.
“National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered to remove all encroachment and debris from the banks of the river but VMC does not act on it From NGT, “said Ravat who also wrote a letter to the main secretary.
VMC has begun cleaning the banks of the Vishwamitri river a few days ago under the supervision of the Ministry of Forestry.
Wildlife activists have protested the movement citing damage to crocodile lightning and other water life in the river.
