Panaji: Ending speculation and confusion, Congress and Goa Forward Party (GFP) announced that they would fight with the election of the 2022 state assemblies together.
Both parties announced the pre-poll alliance on Saturday at a joint press conference held at the Congress election office.
Congress’ Goa Table Responsible Dinesh Gundu Rao and GFP President Vijai Sardesai looked holding hands with the President of the State Party of Chodankar and Margao Mla Drawn Kamat.
GFP is a former Ally Nda.
“I am very happy to announce that the advanced party of the Congress and Goa have entered the Alliance for the Election of Goa Assembly.
We will go to the joint election,” Rao said at a press conference.
Both parties, who shared a strong past, said that they had agreed to bury ax to defeat BJP in power as a united front.
There was a series of interactions and meetings between representatives from two parties to try and establish an alliance.
“We have ironed all the problems.
We are looking for a new start,” Rao said.
He said that discussions about formulating general manifesto, campaign strategies, selection of candidates and other aspects have been discussed.
He also said that both parties would coordinate regarding the future campaign strategy.
Rao claims that the alliance will ensure a stable government formulation.
“We have done the dictum made by Bygones.
We do not want to discuss the past.
We want to see a bright future.
We are sure we will achieve it,” Sardesai said.
Sharing chairs will be decided based on a shared discussion, Rao said.
He said that the announcement of the candidate would be done soon.
Congress has released the first list of candidates for elections.
The party has named eight competitors to the assembly poll with the Congress Legislative leader (CLP), drawn for Kamat and Curorate Mla Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco given the opportunity.
Congress has chosen Sudhir Kandolkar for Mapusa, former Mayor of CCP Tony Rodrigues for Taleiigao, Rajesh Verenkar for Ponda, Sankalp Amonkar for Mormugao, Yuri Alemoo for Cuncolim and Altone D’Costa for Quepem.
“We have said in the past that at night of the 60th liberation, we will give you an alliance that will release the cave from this selected autocracy,” Sardesai said.
“We have a government in Goa which in political acquisition and takeover, who poison Goa.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has met with the GFP delegation on November 30 along with Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
Sardesai has delivered GFP support to Gandhi.
Sardesai has gone ahead and announced that the next Minister of Goa’s chairman will come from Congress.
Going with a great length to calm the congress, Sardesai said that all alternatives for “corrupt, communal, balatkari” BJP cannot be done without Congress as the main alternative party.
