Mysuru: Congress leaders and workers will conduct a diamatra from January 9, 2022 demanding that the Mekedatu project work starts earliest, said Congress leader VR Sudarshan is here on Sunday.
“Soyatra will start from Mekedatu and end up in Bengaluru,” he said.
Indicates that it will be a bipartisan movement, Sudarshan said that leaders from BJP and JD were welcome to participate in inyatra.
“Our goal is to urge the government to immediately start working on the project.
After completion, it will benefit farmers in 10 districts, and ensure sufficient supply of drinking water for everyone in the region,” he said.
Sudarshan said that the Congress would invite Kannada activists, the leaders of farmers to participate in inoyatra.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar will share the mission of the soyatra in Talacauvery, after offering Puja to the Cauvery River at his birthplace on December 24, Sudarshan said.
“Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh will be responsible for organizing in the heart, which will last 10 to 12 days,” he added.
KPCC President Sudarshan said, I was going to tour MySuru from December 23.
“He will meet with the community as part of the drivers of the Congress Membership,” Congress leader added.
The BJP ‘Double Machine’ government is mentioned – a coin that refers to the Safron Party is in a helmet in the center and in the state – has failed to accelerate the work on the project, Sudarshan said.
Why is the state government not interested in starting to work on the Mekedatu project? Why can’t we hold a discussion with the Government of Tamil Nadu, and resolve outstanding problems? “Sudarshan asked.
KPCC spokesman M Lakshman said that Karnataka could get 66TMFFT additional water, besides being able to produce up to 440mW after the Mekedatu project was completed.” This will help the state government supply drinking water to 2.5 crore people in 10 districts, including Bengaluru, “said Lakshman, eliminating concerns about the project had a negative impact on ecology.
He added that the project would not endanger the interest of Tamil Nadu.” This project is intended to store water that will flow into the sea.
BJP should not politicize this problem, and take steps to immediately start working on the project, “added Lakshman.
