ThiruvananThapuram: Corporate Council who passed the agenda to spend RS 20 lakh to conduct a survey to prepare a construction database in five wards in the area of Kovalam – Vizhinjam without a discussion that failed to take into account previous records of these works part of identifying unauthorized construction and tax assessment .
According to the agenda, City Corporation plans to conduct a complicated survey in five wards covering 12,546 houses in the Kovalam area – Vizhinjam as part of compiling data on unauthorized construction and homes without the number of buildings.
The decision was made in a meeting held in the Minister of LSGD’s room in August.
BJP which usually criticizes every agenda and call for surprising discussion let the agenda pass without asking for a debate.
It was decided at a meeting held by the Minister that the Civic body would collect data on residents with land of Pattaya, buildings that can be arranged and other factors.
The Civic body was asked to compile data within 60 days.
There were 12,546 buildings in five wards under the Vizhinjam – Kovalam area spread at 1,155 hectares.
Such a large area cannot be borne by the existing City Corporation labor.
Therefore 15 teams consisting of two members must be deployed to collect information in 60 days and data compilation can be done using two data entry staff.
This requires 20 lakh expenses and can be fulfilled from their own funds.
Former officials with income and corporations testify of countless data collection exercises in these fields in the past.
