Vadodara / Anand: Wildlife fans from all over the country will once again join hands for the number of annual Charotar crocodiles, the ninth chapter which will be held between 7 and 9 January.
Voluntary Nature Conservancy (VNC), which has conducted an annual count as a unique citizen scientist initiative since 2013, cannot involve participants from various backgrounds last year due to covid-19 restrictions.
“This time we have opened a registration to unite participants for a count aimed at building the Mugger Crocodile population index in the Green Region of Fertile Gujarat,” said Anirudh Vasava, VNC research coordinator.
“Last year, only our volunteers participated in a count of Covid limits.
This year, we involve other participants from other countries as well as relaxation norms.
But we will follow all Covid-19 guidelines and only vaccinated individuals who can join as participants in The January event, “he said, added that registration would continue until October 25.
VNC Volunteers have seen the highest number of reptiles on Twin Anand Regency wetlands and Keda during the last count when in all 216 direct sightings carried out on the lake, ponds, and water bodies from 25 villages.
“This program helps understand the distribution of Crocodile throughout Charotar.
It gives participants the opportunity to see landscapes, humans, crocodiles and complex relationships between the three,” Vasava added.
