Chennai: Thirty-year-old Veerannan and his wife Punitha from Tiruppur thought they would not be caught if they took their children and smuggle marijuana from AP.
But they ran out of luck because Nib-cid Sleugga arrested them on Wednesday night.
The couple who packed 26kg marijuana in their backpacks, took various modes of transportation – trains, buses and cars – to avoid getting caught.
Sleuth from Nib Cid continued to track them for almost 800 km from Vishakapatnam to Velore via Tirupathy and Chitoor and rounded them up.
Based on certain intelligence input, the team follows drug binders from Vishakapatnam.
As soon as they entered Tamil Nadu, the bus intercepted the bus they traveled.

The further probe is to set a source of narcotics drugs.
Veerannan has no previous case.
Punitha has been released on a guarantee.
This operation was carried out by two teams – DSP, Salem Unit, Murali, DSP, Vellore Unit R T Ramachandran and monitored by SP, Nib-Cid Rohithnathan Rajagopal.
