Courts allow DNA tests in the case of baby exchange

Written by news2in

Mangaluru: Courts here have given permission to conduct DNA tests in connection with complaints ‘newborn girls become boys’ during the release at Goschen government hospital.
The newborn father had complained to the police that the hospital handed him a baby boy during his niece, even though the hospital’s record showed that the mother gave birth to a baby girl.
Musthafa, a resident of Koteshwara in Kundapur, complained that his wife Amreen had sent a baby girl in the hospital on September 27.
In his complaint at the North Mangaluru police, Musthafa accused the hospital to keep babies in Nicu for 17 days and on September 14 they handed a baby boy, not a girl while out.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities have stated that babies born from Amreen are boys and not a girl.
They also denied all the possibilities of babies exchanged as suspicion.
According to hospital authorities, the baby gender was wrongly written in a case sheet as a woman, not a man.
Musthafa said the court gave permission to test DNA to parents and babies on their request.
“We asked the court to give permission to do a DNA test.
The court has given permission for it,” he added.
The source says the sample will be sent for DNA tests both to Hyderabad or Bengaluru.
Police North Mangaluru has registered fir against hospitals on October 15.
Investigation will continue based on DNA reports, said source.
