PANAJI: Goa reports a one-day surge of 2,476 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest in eight months.
The case level also jumped to 30.37%, almost six percentage points higher than 24.7% Monday.
Goa now has more than 12,000 active Covid-19 cases.
Calculate death too, shoot up to 3,537, with four more deaths.
Two men aged 88 and 74 from Tiswadi, both of them with comorbidity, died after less than two days of hospitalization.
One of them has received a single dose of Covid vaccine, while others are not vaccinated.
A 91-year-old woman from Saliga who died after three days of treatment was also not vaccinated.
During the last 24 hours, Goa did 8,154 tests – 4,741 RT-PCR and 3.413 antigens quickly – the highest so far, while 3,103 reports are waiting.
Of these, 2,522 tests were carried out in private laboratories.
The highest number of tests is carried out in Hospicio and Asilo.
The recovery rate dropped to 91.98%, although 592 patients were declared cured, including 15 sent home from the hospital.
27 patients were hospitalized for the past 24 hours.
In the last two days, more than 60 patients had to be hospitalized, while the rest were managed in house isolation.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 1,579 people were given a dose of caution and 639 school children were vaccinated with the first dose.
About 974 people also received their first dose.
On Tuesday, 11.27 lakh people were fully vaccinated, and 2.14 lakh had not received their second dose.
