Stockholm: Covid-19 Case has increased in the main cities of Sweden with a more contagious delta after appearing as the dominant variant in the country, said health authorities on Friday, although adding national infection levels remain low.
Sweden reported 1,855 new Covid-19 cases last week, a 24% increase compared to the previous week.
About a new quarter cases are related to travel abroad, the Heath authority said.
“The national number of cases from Covid-19 continues to be at a low level, but the increase is seen in all metropolitan areas,” authority said in a statement, adding that 75% of the Swedish adult population has now received at least one dose vaccine.
After suffering the third wave during the spring, the rate of infection, hospitalization and death in this disease fell quickly during the summer with a roll-out vaccine and warmer weather seen had helped impose the spread.
Though Sweden pressed last week by loosening pandemic restrictions, though, which was faced by the spread of a new variant of the virus, the government also urged citizens to maintain social conference recommendations.
Nordic countries have relied on voluntary measures to stem the spread of infection, despite restrictions on opening hours for restaurants and limitations in crowds in places such as shopping centers have also been enforced periodically.
