Mangaluru: While the Covid-19 curve is on a downward trend in Dakshina Kannada, the Ministry of Health focuses more on 13 of the 60 mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) ward where more cases are reported.
Additional steps are being taken at 13 wards, even when the number of cases falls in rural areas.
While the district recorded nearly 2,300 cases in the last 10 days, 630 reported from the MCC limit.
Of the 630 cases, 368 cases reported from 13 Bangsal City Corporation.
Urban Public Health Center (UPHC) in Kuloor has found more cases in Kavoor Ward, with 51 cases reported in the last 10 days.
Likewise, Kongkanady Valencia Ward under Yekkuru UPHC has reported 44 cases during the period.
However, 47 wards in the city have reported less than 20 cases in 10 days.
The Ministry of Health has declared nearly 20 detention zones in the city of Mangaluru in the last 10 days.
Dr.
Ashok H, Nodal Officer for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada, told TII that the Ministry of Health had increased supervision in the area under 10 UPHC at the Mangaluru city limit.
“We have faced a big problem in the management of Covid-19 in the city of Mangaluru now.
While the district has an overall level of 2.1%, Mangalore City has a level of 3.3%.
Meanwhile, the cases are very lacking in Bantwal rural areas, Putture, Sutia, Belthangady and Mangaluru.
We have decided to increase the number of RT-PCR tests at the Mangaluru city limit with the help of MCC.
At present, in this district, we have done an average of 11,500 tests per day, “said Dr Ashok.
