Pune: Three Vaccines against Covid-19 – Covovax, Corbevax, and Zycov-D – Receive Narcotics Control General Indian Members Last year for emergency use in this country have not been used in immunization drives in India, casting poser on their late utilization.
Experts claim that this is the right time to accelerate the vaccine launch approved because the government has begun teenage vaccination and prudential doses are being given to vulnerable populations and frontline workers.
A prominent public health expert said three vaccine producers must ensure sufficient inventory before the launch was announced.
At present, only covaxin is given to children, while all three vaccines are launched last year -Covishield, Covaxin and Sputnik V – are being used as a dose of prevention.
Covovax, produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII), and Corbevax from Biological E accept the drug controller General India (DCGI) for limited use in emergency arrangements in December last year.
Zydus Cadila-Manufacturing “Zycov-D” was given approval of Emergency Use by DCGI in August 2021.
Experts felt that this third launch would strengthen the Indian vaccine basket against Covid-19.
Officials from the Ministry of Health Union acknowledged that the company’s production capacity was a problem in introducing these three vaccines in the current program.
He said that most of the population was vaccinated with covishield and covaxin, the focus of the new vaccine would be in areas that were less vaccinated, especially in northeastern countries.
A senior official from the Ministry of Health Union, in anonymous condition, said they had booked for new vaccines for countries and regions with poor vaccination.
“We must begin to get supply at least Zycovd in about a month.
After emergency authorization is issued for vaccines, the central government can place an order, and has been done.
The other two must also be included immediately,” the official said.
When Zycov-D is cleaned, many countries are allocated doses.
But some haven’t accepted it.
Maharashtra has booked nearly 14 doses of lakh for areas with poor dose vaccinations, especially in Nashik and Jalgaon districts.
“We have received sanctions in November, but we have not received a vaccine,” said a senior state public health official.
