New Delhi: The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Delhi has been reduced by almost one third for the past two weeks – from 93,407 at 15 to 29,512 on Saturday.
Covid-19’s front level, which has touched 30.64% in the second week of January, now falls to 7.41%.
On Saturday, the city reported 4,483 new cases and 28 new fatalities due to this disease.
In the last 24 hours, 60,532 tests were carried out, officials said.
“We not only see a decrease in the level of participants.
Even inpatient because Covid-19 has been reduced,” an official said.
Dr.
Ashok Seth, Chair of the Fortis Escort Heart Institute (FEHI), said they had ordered more than 120 beds for Covid-19 patients.
At present, Dr.
Seth added, only 15 beds were occupied.
“Nine patients were treated in a while six others needed ICU treatment,” said Chairman FEHI.
“Last year, during the second wave, not only a full Covid ward, we have put extra beds to accommodate patients in vacant areas,” Dr.
Seth tells.
Other hospitals such as AIIMS, Safdarjung, Lok Nayak, Apollo, Sir Ganga Ram and Max also have low occupancy in Covid wards.
Overall, government data showed only 1,771 (11.48%) of a total of 15,428 covid beds occupied.
A total of 630 patients who supported oxygen and 130 other patients who were positively confirmed for Covid-19 require ventilator support.
Doctors say lung infections because Covid-19 is rarely seen and most patients recover with minimal treatment or not in a week.
“Are people who are still not vaccinated and those who have underlying medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease and kidney failure that are still at risk of experiencing complications.
Maximum death due to Covid has also been recorded in the same subset of patients,” said Dr.
Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of Lok Nayak Hospital, said.
In the last 29 days, Delhi has recorded 690 deaths due to an average viral infection 24 deaths a day.
After Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the capital has recorded maximum death because of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Analysis of Covid Death Causes Reported between January 13 and January 25, which was presented at the Delhi Disaster Management Authority Meeting recently, showed that Delhi reported 439 deaths in Covid-19 patients in 13 days.
From them, Covid-19 was found as the main cause of death only in case of 94 (21%).
These include 60 people who are not vaccinated.
