Chennai: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu continued to decline, with 621 people tested positively in the last 24 hours.
About one lakh people subject to RT-PCR tests in every day and the positive rate of the average test (TPR) has dropped to 0.6%.
In Chennai (127 new cases) and Coimbatore (102), the only district in TN to report new cases in three digits, the TRP has decreased to 0.8% and 1.1%.
This, coupled with a rapid recovery rate in these districts, has helped reduce the number of active cases.
At present, less than 2,500 patients undergo treatment in these districts.
In all states, the figure was around 7,400 on Friday night.
However, there is not much change at the death rate.
For every 100 confirmed cases, at least one continues to give up on the disease.
Even on Friday, 11 people died took cumulative death to 36,667.
Among them, ten have comorbidity such as diabetes or hypertension.
Meanwhile, the state has intensified testing at the airport so that the spread can be controlled.
