Mumbai: Police personnel two hundred and thirty Mumbai died last year which 100 surrendered to Covid, according to a report by NGO Praja.
This year, 23 Mumbai police officers surrendered to Covid.
The report shows between 2018 and 2020 503 police personnel died in the city.
This includes Covid death.
Of the total deaths, 62 police in heart disease, 44 because of jaundice and disease, 39 died of cancer, 26 was an unintentional death, 14 died of kidney failure, 14 died of suicide, 13 each died of diabetes and 13 Tuberculosis and 178 died of other health problems.
The praja report that 62% of police personnel were not allocated a housing unit in December 2020, reflecting a large gap in police housing in Mumbai.
