Rajkot: Despair to pay debt because Covid-19 infection caused four people from Indore Robbing Gold worth Rs 88 lakh from a Rajkot-based jewelry traveling on the bus last week police arrested Hidayat Khan Pathhan, his wife Razia, Putri Alisha, Ehetesham, after they were taken here with a transfer command.
They were arrested based on the description provided by Shailesh Pederiya traders, who used to sell gold ornaments to Pathan regularly, and CCTV images.
The police said Hidyat was infected with Covid-19 and 50% of his lungs infected.
He has spent around Rs 40 Lakh for the treatment he borrowed money.
Brother Hayatkhan Hayatkhan died during Covid-19.
Hidayat entered the silver business on Indore and knew that Pederiya often traveled to Indore to sell ornaments regularly.
Pederiya is accustomed to traveling to Indore to show design to various traders and Hidayat realized this.
Hidayat with his family decided to steal a golden bag to pay his debt and the four defendants came to Rajkot.
MD Chaudhray, Police Inspector, local crime branch, said, “They also made two women with them so that no one would suspect them.
Ehetesham ordered a ticket on the same bus where Pederiya traveled and three other members followed the bus in the car.” When Pederiya went to alleviate himself at the break point, Ehetesham stole a bag, went down and escaped in Hidayat’s car.
The police also have Ehetesham’s appearance and CCTV footage.
