On September 16, Shah complained of pain in the hands and head.
He shifted to the hospital to be examined and after his condition did not improve, the doctor at United Green Hospital carried out angioplasty and put a stent in his heart.
However, in one hour he lost consciousness and doctors diagnosed brain bleeding.
Surgery was carried out to remove blood clots in his brain, but on September 19 they declared him the brain died.
Immediately, alerted by doctors, Nilesh Mandlewala from Donate Life convinced the family to contribute its organs.
“The family is very good and agree to donate organs.
This is the first case of organ donations by Covid-19 patients.
All organs are examined by nodal agents and in good condition,” Mandlewala said.
Both lungs were brought around 1,625 km to Kolkata by air in 190 minutes and transplanted in patients who support ECMO for more than 103 days.
